Relief was fast, thank goodness

Last night I filed my trays in all the spots they were hurting. I killed an emery board, but it was well worth the sacrifice. Today it's fine, and the sore marks on my cheeks are already feeling better. The other thing I'd forgotten to write about was that when I'd bite down, the upper right tray would pinch my cheek! I guess my teeth moved because it's not happening anymore - good thing because it REALLY hurt.

And by filing, you don't alter anything with the trays to the point of making them ineffective for the orthodontist's purposes? If not, those really sound like the best way to go for getting orthodontic work done! Keep writing as I'm very interested in how this all goes and works for you! Glad you are feeling better!

Glad you found a way to feel better! As Sherry said, hope that didn't make this tray less effective - but you also didn't have much choice! Something had to change or tray 6 would have to go in for repair.

In the old days of orthodontics, we'd take a tiny ball of wax and push that over the places that were poking into our cheeks. The wax cushioned things nicely. Does your dentist have that wax to give you if that would work instead of filing?

Thanks my friends, for the encouragement. It was actually my orthodontist who told me to file them. I don't take big chunks off or anything, just smooth the edges where needed. The last trays haven't needed anything, so this kinda took me by surprise, but all's well again.

I'm hooked to your blog!!

I'm hoping to get Invisalign soon. I went for my appointments a couple of months ago, but I got rejected for the dental credit thingy that my orthodontist uses for their payment plans. It really upset me, because I'm 22 and well overdue for fixing my teeth.

I'm SO happy to see it all going well for you. I'm sick of reading the horror stories! I only hope that I will eventually be able to start my treatment, and it will be as easy as yours!
